Haiduk Serhii Anatoliiovych

Year of birth: 1963. Vice Admiral of the Naval Forces of Ukraine. Former head of the search and rescue service of the Ukrainian Navy. At this position, he was directly involved in the search and destroy missions of the old ammunition at sea, refloating the ships, and towing the vessels carrying hazardous cargo. On the eve of the Russian occupation of Crimea, he was deputy commander of the Navy, responsible for logistics. On 03/02/2014 he was appointed acting commander of the Navy, and on 03/07/2014 he took over as the commander. He tried to keep the Ukrainian servicemen from taking the side of the invaders. He was taken prisoner of war on 03/19/2014, released shortly thereafter and taken to the mainland of Ukraine. In 2016, he was discharged from the position of the Navy Commander, and the year after he retired from the active duty in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Currently he is the Head of the Association of Veterans of the Ukrainian Navy.
